Fuchsia Cotton Lumbar Ikat Cushion Cover

Fuchsia ovals lattice across a white ground, each holding a pale green eye. All cotton, so it takes a gentle machine wash — worth knowing for a cover that is meant to be leaned on.

Where it goes

It suits a grey, white or dark green sofa, a family room, or a child’s reading corner. See the rest of the lumbar cushion covers, or the square ikat pillow covers in the same cloth.

How this ikat is made

The pattern is tied and dyed into the warp threads before a single row is woven — abrbandi, the cloud-binding. Every soft edge on this cover is the dye finding its way past a tie, which is why no two lumbar covers off the same bolt are identical. The cloth is handwoven in Margilan, in the Fergana Valley; the cover is cut and sewn in our own workshop in Bukhara.
