Coral and Gold Lumbar Ikat Cushion Cover

Coral medallions link down a white cloth with gold and pale blue feathering around each one. Three colours laid close together like this need the ties to line up exactly, or the eyes drift out of their frames.

Where it goes

It suits a cream, white or grey sofa, a bedroom chair, or a window seat in a bright room. See the rest of the lumbar cushion covers, or the square ikat pillow covers in the same cloth.

How this ikat is made

The pattern is tied and dyed into the warp threads before a single row is woven — abrbandi, the cloud-binding. Every soft edge on this cover is the dye finding its way past a tie, which is why no two lumbar covers off the same bolt are identical. The cloth is handwoven in Margilan, in the Fergana Valley; the cover is cut and sewn in our own workshop in Bukhara.
