Wholesale Ikat Fabrics

These are the designs we supply to the trade in quantity. All are handwoven Uzbek ikat from Margilan — silk-cotton, cotton and silk velvet — cut in long continuous lengths from stock, or woven again on our own looms when you need more. Interior designers, upholsterers, dressmakers and shops buy them here at a fixed trade discount off the retail price.

The minimum is 3 metres per design, with no minimum order value. Prices on this page are retail. Open an account through our wholesale programme, and trade prices show automatically whenever you are logged in. Samples of up to three designs are free; you pay only the postage.

Uzbek ikat wholesale, direct from the looms

Every cloth here is woven by hand in Margilan, in the Fergana Valley of Uzbekistan. The warp threads are tie-dyed before weaving, so the pattern is in the thread and shows on both faces; nothing here is printed or power-loomed.

We weave on our own looms and sell the cloth ourselves, so a trade order comes straight from the workshop, without an importer in between. Ask us about a cloth and the answer comes from the workshop that wove it.

Silk, cotton and velvet ikat wholesale

    • Silk ikat wholesale — silk-cotton adras and shoyi, 50–60% silk, mostly 40–50 cm wide. It has the sheen and drape for dresses, kaftans, scarves, cushions, curtains and headboards.
    • Cotton ikat wholesale — 100% cotton, 40, 50 or 65 cm wide. It is firm and washable at 30 °C: the cloth for cushions in quantity, curtains, table linen and chairs.
    • Silk velvet ikat wholesale (bakhmal) — a hand-cut silk pile, 40 cm wide. It is the luxury cloth, for statement cushions, jackets, headboards and occasional chairs.

The fibre and width are the first lines on every product page. For upholstery projects, the cloths our upholsterer customers choose are gathered under ikat upholstery fabric.

    Minimums, lengths and trade prices

    • Minimum: 3 metres per design. There is no minimum order value.
    • Lengths: up to 50 metres of one design from stock. Ask for a continuous length when you order and we will cut it in one piece where the bolt allows.
    • Trade price: a fixed discount off the retail price shown on this page. It is applied automatically once your wholesale account is approved. Wholesale discounts do not apply to promotional or flash-deal items, and coupons cannot be combined with them.
    • Payment: order on the site at trade prices and pay at checkout, or send us your list for an invoiced order: a 50% deposit confirms it and the balance is paid before dispatch. We take PayPal (including Visa and Mastercard) and bank transfer.

    Weaving to order

If you need more of a design than we hold, or one that has sold out, we can weave it again.

    • Run size: one loom is warped for up to 200 metres of a single design.
    • Time: a run takes 30–35 days to dye, weave and finish.
    • Several designs at once: we work twelve looms, so several designs can be woven at the same time.

A new run is a new dyelot, so the colour may differ slightly from the photograph and from earlier stock. If the match matters, order a sample from the new run first. Tell us the designs, metres and deadline and we will confirm what can be woven and when.

    Buying handwoven ikat in quantity

    • One dyelot per project. Each length is cut from a single warp. Buy the full quantity for one project in one order, because stock from another warp will not match exactly.
    • Allow for the repeat. On the classical designs it runs up to about 225 cm. Pattern-matched pieces such as curtains and headboards need one extra repeat per join.
    • Expect the handwork. The motifs drift a little along the length and the selvedges are not machine-straight. That is how buyers tell real ikat from a print — see handwoven versus printed ikat.
    • Plan for the width. At 40–65 cm the cloth is narrower than mill fabric, so cutting plans differ. Send us the pieces and we will work out the metres.

    Samples and trade sample sets

    Samples are 20–25 cm pieces.

    • Free: up to three designs. You pay only the postage.
    • Extra swatches: $3 each. A set of ten designs costs $21 plus postage.
    • How to order: use the sample listing and write the designs in the order notes, or send us the list.
