A medium vintage suzani with the classic single-roundel layout: a large cream disc with scalloped edges and a magenta-pink centre sits in the middle of a black cotton ground, ringed by white serpentine vines that curl out towards the corners, where sprays of pink, orange and green flowers fill the space. A pink inner border and a red-and-white striped outer border close it. The palette — black, cream, hot pink — is typical of the Soviet decades, when bright synthetic silks were what a household could buy.
Hand-embroidered silk on cotton, made in Uzbekistan in the Soviet period and bought from a family; vintage, not antique, and shown as it is.
