An Uzbek piece, whatever the old listing said about Morocco. On a black cotton ground a lattice of pointed arches — the ogival frame that Central Asian embroiderers took from tilework and textiles — holds large rosettes of red with lilac and cream petals, and the spaces between are filled with small red flowers, buds and leaves in a dense, even hand. The old copy also mentions a dragonfly among the motifs; look for it in the close-up photograph. At 140 × 90 cm it is a panel, not a blanket.
Silk thread on cotton, hand-embroidered in Uzbekistan.
