Crimson Lumbar Ikat Cushion Cover

Crimson ovals link into a lattice across a white cloth, every join feathered where the dye ran. Two colours, one repeated shape, and a red deep enough to carry the whole cover.

Where it goes

It works on a cream, grey or navy sofa, a dining chair, or a bench in a hallway. See the rest of the lumbar cushion covers, or the square ikat pillow covers in the same cloth.

How this ikat is made

The pattern is tied and dyed into the warp threads before a single row is woven — abrbandi, the cloud-binding. Every soft edge on this cover is the dye finding its way past a tie, which is why no two lumbar covers off the same bolt are identical. The cloth is handwoven in Margilan, in the Fergana Valley; the cover is cut and sewn in our own workshop in Bukhara.
