Coral Lumbar Ikat Cushion Cover

Coral ovals stand in columns down a cream cloth, spaced evenly enough that the ground reads as a grid. The coral is warmer than the crimson in the same design and reads softer in daylight.

Where it goes

It suits a cream or oatmeal sofa, a rattan chair, or a window seat, and pairs with the crimson cover in the same lattice. See the rest of the lumbar cushion covers, or the square ikat pillow covers in the same cloth.

How this ikat is made

The pattern is tied and dyed into the warp threads before a single row is woven — abrbandi, the cloud-binding. Every soft edge on this cover is the dye finding its way past a tie, which is why no two lumbar covers off the same bolt are identical. The cloth is handwoven in Margilan, in the Fergana Valley; the cover is cut and sewn in our own workshop in Bukhara.
