Nearly all are 50 × 50 cm (20 in) squares with a concealed zip on the side, sold as covers without inserts: a cotton square is $11–15, a silk-cotton adras or shoyi square $20–29, and the one or two oversized pieces are priced on the listing. Because each ikat dyelot is a single warp, most of these designs exist in a handful of covers and then not at all.

The cloth line on the listing tells you which you are buying. Cotton ikat covers are matt, firm, the cheapest at $11–15, and the ones to use where they will be leaned on every evening; they take a machine wash on a gentle cycle. Silk-cotton covers — adras at half and half, shoyi at 70 per cent silk — have a soft gloss and a finer hand, cost $20–29, and are better hand-washed. Traditional Margilan ikat is woven 40 cm wide, so a 50 cm square is either cut in one piece from the 50 cm-wide cloths Abdulla's workshop weaves for us, or pieced from two 40 cm lengths with the pattern matched at the join. A matched seam on a cover is not a fault; it is the loom width showing. Either way the pattern is in the thread, not printed on it — turn the cover inside out and it is there on the back — and the handwoven versus printed post shows what to look for on the cloth itself.
No insert is included; the parcel is a flat cover. Use a 55 cm feather-and-down insert for a 50 cm cover — one filled to its own size sags at the corners. The zip is concealed along one side seam. The back is the same ikat as the front — almost every cover here is reversible, which is two cushions for the price of one when you turn it over in the other season.
Many of the 250 designs here come from Abdulla's workshop — polka dots, chevrons, the "chess" and "heartbeat" repeats, pomegranates, big Bukhara rosettes — and a design lasts as long as its warp. If you want a pair or a trio in one pattern, buy them in one order; if you want a set that goes together without matching, choose one colour family across three patterns, which is how they are used in Uzbek houses, where cushions were stacked against the wall on the floor rather than arranged on a sofa. Unzip and remove the insert. Cotton: gentle machine wash at 30 °C in a wash bag, or by hand; silk-cotton: hand wash at 30 °C with a mild detergent, no wringing.
