A red Bukhara suzani with a formal layout: in the centre a rectangular medallion holds a rosette in green and pink; around it, in ordered rows, sit roundels in pink, green and white, with blue paisleys and blue vines filling the spaces between; a red border with small repeating motifs closes the field. The colours are the Bukhara ones — pink and green on red, with blue for the vines — and the drawing is regular, the roundels lined up like tiles.
Silk thread on cotton, hand-embroidered in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. Newly embroidered for Alesouk in the traditional stitches; it arrives clean, even and bright.
