Orange, red and yellow run into one another in flame-shaped medallions, with small black flecks marking the centres. The colours are laid down in the warp before weaving, which is why they bleed into each other rather than meeting at a line.

Where it goes
A warm cover for a neutral sofa or a reading bench, and one of the brightest in the run. See the rest of the ikat bolster covers, or the shorter lumbar cushion covers in the same cloth.
How this ikat is made
The pattern is tied and dyed into the warp threads before a single row is woven — abrbandi, the cloud-binding. On a cover this long you see the repeat run its full course rather than framed in a square, and every soft edge is the dye finding its way past a tie. The cloth is handwoven in Margilan, in the Fergana Valley; the cover is cut and sewn in our own workshop in Bukhara.
