100% mulberry silk ikat scarf in olive and gold, knotted fringe

Olive, sage and gold in broad soft stripes, in 100% mulberry silk — the only pure silk piece among the clothes, where everything else is a silk-cotton blend. Pure silk takes the dye deeper and holds a higher sheen, which is why the gold in this cloth looks metallic where a blend would look matt.

How to wear it

How this ikat is made
The pattern is not printed on the cloth and it is not embroidered into it. Every thread of the warp is tied off in bundles and dyed, one colour at a time, before a single row is woven — a process called abrbandi, cloud-binding, for the soft feathered edge it leaves on every motif. The cloth is handwoven in Margilan in the Fergana Valley. The scarf is then cut and finished in our atelier in Tashkent.
