Black & White Uzbek Suzani – Rows of Tree Motifs, Yellow Border

Near-monochrome, which is rare in Uzbek embroidery: white motifs on a black cotton ground, arranged in orderly rows — each motif a branching, tree-like form with paired leaves, the shape the trade calls a tree of life — with small touches of red and orange at the tips and a plain yellow border around the whole field. The restraint is the point; it is the piece to choose for a modern room where the multicolour suzanis would fight the furniture.

Silk thread on cotton, hand-embroidered in Uzbekistan. Newly embroidered for Alesouk in the traditional stitches; it arrives clean, even and bright.
