Green Leaves Silk Velvet Ikat Fabric — 100% Handwoven Silk
The Green Leaves velvet ikat follows a soft, organic layout where the motif expands along the warp in leaf-shaped curves. The pattern is created through abrbandi, the resist-dye technique in which the warp threads receive colour before weaving. Once the dyed warps are placed on the loom, the familiar feathered boundaries of ikat appear. The velvet surface is produced by cutting a two-layer weave, giving the cloth a quiet sheen and a subtle shift in tone when brushed.
The palette—light green, grey, and off-white—creates a calm textile suited for both contemporary and traditional interiors. Light green appears gentle on velvet and works well in soft daylight, making it useful for pillows or decorative runners in living spaces that favour natural tones. Grey stabilizes the design and keeps the green from reading too bright, while off-white adds clarity without dominating the pattern. For garments, this combination is often chosen for spring or early-autumn pieces, where muted colours complement lighter fabrics and transitional clothing.
