Purple chevrons run the length of a white cloth at full strength. This is one of four chevron colourways cut from the same design — the others are green, camel and navy — so a pair or a row is easy to build.

How this ikat is made
The pattern is tied and dyed into the warp threads before a single row is woven — abrbandi, the cloud-binding. Every soft edge on this cover is the dye finding its way past a tie, which is why no two lumbar covers off the same bolt are identical. The cloth is handwoven in Margilan, in the Fergana Valley; the cover is cut and sewn in our own workshop in Bukhara.
