Orange, Pink & Turquoise Silk Ikat Fabric – Rainbow Chevron

Chevrons in the widest bands we weave: orange, hot pink, turquoise, green, yellow and brown, each band a hand’s breadth, zigzagging across the cloth with a feathered edge where one colour hands over to the next. There is almost no white ground — the colour is the cloth. Sixty per cent silk in the warp gives every band a gloss; forty per cent cotton keeps it sewable. 42 cm wide.

Suitable uses

Handmade note

Handwoven on a wooden loom, so expect what the loom leaves: motif edges that feather where the warp shifted, a hairline of colour variation along the length, and a selvedge that is not perfectly straight. The pattern is dyed into the thread, not printed on it, and shows on both faces — the test described in our handwoven versus printed ikat guide. Colours differ slightly between dyelots, so order the full length you need at once.
