Purple, Fuchsia & Yellow Silk Ikat Fabric – Large Medallions

A big-scale multicolour: purple and fuchsia medallions, each with a blue heart and a yellow feathered border, sit one above the other down the width of the cloth, with black and white between them. One medallion is the size of a cushion front. It is the brightest of the 42 cm silks and the most Uzbek in feel — the palette of a festival dress. Sixty per cent silk, forty cotton.

Suitable uses

A kaftan or robe cut with the medallions running down the front, cushion fronts with one medallion each, a bolster. Too strong for large curtains unless the room is white. More cloths of this kind are under Silk Ikats.

Handmade note

Handwoven on a wooden loom, so expect what the loom leaves: motif edges that feather where the warp shifted, a hairline of colour variation along the length, and a selvedge that is not perfectly straight. The pattern is dyed into the thread, not printed on it, and shows on both faces. Colours differ slightly between dyelots, so order the full length you need at once.
