Rainbow Multicolour Silk Ikat Fabric – Feathered Wave Stripe

Vertical stripes that wave rather than run straight — green, blue, red, orange, yellow and brown, each edged in white where the tie-dyed warp shifted — so the cloth looks like a rainbow seen through moving water. Used lengthways the stripes slim a garment; cut across, they make a bold horizontal for a cushion or a runner. Sixty per cent silk, forty cotton, 42 cm wide.

Handmade note

Handwoven on a wooden loom, so expect what the loom leaves: motif edges that feather where the warp shifted, a hairline of colour variation along the length, and a selvedge that is not perfectly straight. The pattern is dyed into the thread, not printed on it, and shows on both faces. Colours differ slightly between dyelots, so order the full length you need at once.
