Red & White Silk Ikat Fabric – Feathered Wave Stripe

Red and white in wavy feathered stripes that run the length of the cloth, the red thinning to pink at every edge where the dye stopped short of the tied warp. Two colours, so it is easy to place, and at seventy per cent silk it has the gloss of a dress fabric — the old listing’s ‘upholstery’ is the wrong use for it. 40 cm wide.

Suitable uses

Handmade note

Handwoven on a wooden loom, so expect what the loom leaves: motif edges that feather where the warp shifted, a hairline of colour variation along the length, and a selvedge that is not perfectly straight. The pattern is dyed into the thread, not printed on it, and shows on both faces — the test described in our handwoven versus printed ikat guide. Colours differ slightly between dyelots, so order the full length you need at once.
