Olive Green, Coral & White Silk Ikat Fabric – Feathered Stripe

Olive green with coral red and white: the stripes run the length of the cloth and feather into each other so that from a distance the surface reads as a mottled green-gold with red flashes in it. The old listing called it a sateen — the weave lies flatter and glossier than our usual adras, which suits the olive. Sixty per cent silk, forty cotton, on the 50 cm loom.

Suitable uses

Shirt-dresses and kimono jackets, trousers, curtains seamed at the stripe, cushion fronts against cream. The stripe cuts without waste. More cloths of this kind are under Silk Ikats.

Handmade note

Handwoven on a wooden loom, so expect what the loom leaves: motif edges that feather where the warp shifted, a hairline of colour variation along the length, and a selvedge that is not perfectly straight. The pattern is dyed into the thread, not printed on it, and shows on both faces. Colours differ slightly between dyelots, so order the full length you need at once.
