Black and White Chevron Ikat Bolster Cover

Black chevrons on ivory and nothing else. Without a second colour to look at you notice the weave itself — the way each point frays softly into the ground where the dye ran past its binding.

How this ikat is made

The pattern is tied and dyed into the warp threads before a single row is woven — abrbandi, the cloud-binding. On a cover this long you see the repeat run its full course rather than framed in a square, and every soft edge is the dye finding its way past a tie. The cloth is handwoven in Margilan, in the Fergana Valley; the cover is cut and sewn in our own workshop in Bukhara.
