Rumi Silk Velvet Ikat Fabric — 100% Handwoven Silk
The Rumi design is woven in silk velvet using the traditional abrbandi method practiced in Uzbekistan. This textile is made by resist-dyeing the warp threads before weaving, which creates the characteristic blurred edges and soft colour transitions found only in genuine ikat. The surface of the fabric has a natural velvet pile, giving it depth without overpowering the pattern. Because the work is carried out entirely by hand, each meter carries small differences in tone, alignment, and texture. These are expected features of handwoven silk velvet rather than signs of a flaw or defect.
The fabric width is approximately 40 cm, with a 60 cm pattern repeat. A joining line appears around 120 cm, formed during the weaving process when long warps are matched on the loom. This line is a normal structural element of handmade velvet ikat. Rumi is suitable for throw pillows, tailored coats, dresses, light upholstery panels, curtains, table runners, wall hangings, and accessories. One quantity equals one continuous meter.

Authentic Weaving Notes
Hand-dyed silk threads naturally create slubs, slight shifts in colour registration, and small weaving irregularities. New velvet ikat may feel firm due to starch used during production; it softens with washing and handling.
Care
Wash gently with shampoo at 30–40°C.
Digital screens may show colours differently; swatches are available on request.
A white pattern-repeat line appears every 200–220 cm in all authentic ikat fabrics.
