Red, Green & Yellow Silk Ikat Fabric – Traditional Striped Motif

The traditional Fergana layout in its warm version: columns of red, green, yellow and brown motifs run the length of the cloth with white only as feathered outlines between them, so the surface is colour edge to edge. It is the cloth of the everyday Uzbek dress and it still makes one. Sixty per cent silk, forty cotton, 40 cm wide.

Suitable uses

Chapans, kaftans and straight-cut dresses, a lined jacket, cushion fronts against plain velvet. Too busy for large curtains. Pairs with the burgundy traditional (CF0597). More cloths of this kind are under Silk Ikats.

Handmade note

Handwoven on a wooden loom, so expect what the loom leaves: motif edges that feather where the warp shifted, a hairline of colour variation along the length, and a selvedge that is not perfectly straight. The pattern is dyed into the thread, not printed on it, and shows on both faces. Colours differ slightly between dyelots, so order the full length you need at once.
