Mauve, Camel & Black Silk Ikat Fabric – Muted Palmettes

A dusty palette, unusual in Uzbek ikat where the dyes usually run bright: mauve, camel and white palmettes with black at their hearts, the colours knocked back as if seen through a veil. It is the cloth for rooms in greige and oak, and for clothes that want pattern without brightness. Fifty per cent silk, fifty cotton, 42 cm wide.

Suitable uses

Handmade note

Handwoven on a wooden loom, so expect what the loom leaves: motif edges that feather where the warp shifted, a hairline of colour variation along the length, and a selvedge that is not perfectly straight. The pattern is dyed into the thread, not printed on it, and shows on both faces. Colours differ slightly between dyelots, so order the full length you need at once.
