Yellow & Olive Green Silk Ikat Fabric – Feathered Ovals

Lemon yellow and olive green, two colours that ikat weavers pair often because they are dyed one after the other on the same warp: large oval motifs, alternating yellow and green, feather into a white ground that shows between them. It is a spring cloth — the colours of new leaves — and the silk warp gives the yellow a shine. Sixty per cent silk, forty cotton, 40 cm wide, 225 cm repeat.

Handmade note

Handwoven on a wooden loom, so expect what the loom leaves: motif edges that feather where the warp shifted, a hairline of colour variation along the length, and a selvedge that is not perfectly straight. The pattern is dyed into the thread, not printed on it, and shows on both faces. Colours differ slightly between dyelots, so order the full length you need at once.
