Black and Pink Silk Velvet Ikat Fabric – Pomegranate (Anor)

Pink pomegranates, anor in Uzbek, on black silk pile, framed by cream leaf scrolls. The pomegranate is one of the oldest motifs in Central Asian cloth, and in velvet the colour sits in the tips of the pile, so the pink glows rather than lies flat.

Handmade note

Woven on a wooden loom with two warps — a cotton ground and a silk pile warp tied and dyed before weaving — so expect what the hand leaves: small shifts in the motif where the warp moved, slight changes in pile height, and a pile that looks lighter or darker depending on which way you view it. Colours differ slightly between dyelots, so order the full length you need at once.

This cloth is out of stock. Ikat is woven in small runs, so a design is not always on the shelf — but this one can be woven again.
