Sage Green Ikat Mini Dress

A soft sage green on white — pale, not the emerald the old listing claimed. One dye bath, so the pattern sits quietly and the feathered edge does all the work. It is the same cut as the pink and the dusty blue minis; the three read as a set without matching.

How to wear it

A patterned dress needs nothing else patterned near it — plain shoes, plain bag, and the cloth does the rest. Ikat was ceremonial dress in Uzbekistan for centuries and it still reads as an occasion here, though a cotton one wears perfectly well on an ordinary day. How this ikat is made

The pattern is not printed on the cloth and it is not embroidered into it. Every thread of the warp is tied off in bundles and dyed, one colour at a time, before a single row is woven — a process called abrbandi, cloud-binding, for the soft feathered edge it leaves on every motif. The cloth is handwoven in Margilan in the Fergana Valley. The garment is then cut and sewn in our atelier in Tashkent.
