Sky Blue and White Silk Ikat Fabric – Cloud Waves

A two-colour ikat in the old sense of the word abr, cloud: sky-blue forms drifting across an ivory ground, their edges feathered where the dye crept under the ties. Two colours mean fewer dye baths, which is why the blue reads so clean. Sixty per cent silk, forty cotton.

Handmade note

Handwoven on a wooden loom, so expect what the loom leaves: motif edges that feather where the warp shifted, a hairline of colour variation along the length, and a selvedge that is not perfectly straight. The pattern is dyed into the thread, not printed on it, and shows on both faces — the test described in our handwoven versus printed ikat guide. Colours differ slightly between dyelots, so order the full length you need at once.

Availability

This cloth is out of stock. Ikat is woven in small runs, so a design is not always on the shelf — but this one can be woven again.
