Burgundy Scroll Ikat Bolster Cushion Cover

Deep burgundy scrolls curl across a warm cream ground in the pattern Bukhara weavers have kept in circulation for generations. At this length the curls get room to turn properly instead of being cut off at the seam.

• Both faces are cut from the same ikat, so the cover is reversible
• Size: 40 × 100 cm (16 × 39 in); takes a 40 × 100 cm bolster insert, or a 45 × 100 cm roll for a fuller look

• Care: Hand wash in cool water with the insert out, or dry-clean; do not wring; dry flat in the shade; iron on the reverse while slightly damp

Where it goes

How this ikat is made

The pattern is tied and dyed into the warp threads before a single row is woven — abrbandi, the cloud-binding. On a cover this long you see the repeat run its full course rather than framed in a square, and every soft edge is the dye finding its way past a tie. The cloth is handwoven in Margilan, in the Fergana Valley; the cover is cut and sewn in our own workshop in Bukhara.
