Rhombic Pattern Silk Velvet Ikat Fabric — 100% Handwoven Silk
This silk velvet ikat is woven using the classical abrbandi technique practiced in the Fergana Valley. The rhombic motif is formed by resist-dyeing the warp threads before weaving, which produces the soft, feathered edges characteristic of true ikat. The colours—pale green, black, light grey, and off-white—shift subtly as the velvet pile catches the light, a natural effect of silk velvet’s double-layer weaving and pile cutting process.
Velvet of this type is produced by weaving two layers of cloth simultaneously and then cutting them apart to create the pile. The result is a textile with depth, shadow variations, and a surface that retains warmth and softness without losing structural strength. Each meter shows slight differences in alignment and tone, which arise from manual warp preparation and loom tension. These details reflect its handmade origin rather than any manufacturing error.
The fabric width is approximately 40 cm, with a 60 cm pattern repeat. A structural line appears around 120 cm, created during warp joining on the loom. This is typical for handmade silk velvet ikat. The material is suitable for throw pillows, structured coats, dresses, small upholstery panels, table runners, curtains, and decorative textile work. Each unit is one continuous meter.

Characteristics of Handwoven Velvet Ikat
Hand-dyed silk threads may show slubs, slight colour shifts, and small weaving irregularities. Velvet ikat may feel firm initially due to starch used during weaving; it softens with washing and handling. In all authentic ikat, a white pattern-repeat line appears every 200–220 cm.
