Black and White Leaf Silk Velvet Ikat Fabric — 100% Handwoven Silk
This silk velvet ikat is woven using the abrbandi technique practiced in Uzbek workshops, where the warp threads are tied and dyed before weaving. The design follows a black and white leaf motif, with the softened transitions typical of true ikat caused by hand-dyed warp alignment. The velvet surface gives a low, dense pile that shifts subtly with movement, a characteristic of cut-pile silk weaving.
The usable width is around 40 cm. The leaf pattern repeats at roughly 60 cm, and a loom-joining line appears near 120 cm, formed when warp sections are connected. This mark is a structural part of handmade velvet ikat and not a defect. The material is suitable for throw pillows, jackets, dresses, table runners, light upholstery panels, curtains, and decorative textile work. One quantity equals one continuous meter.
Specifications: 100% handwoven silk velvet; width ~40 cm (16 in); pattern repeat ~60 cm; loom line ~120 cm; sold by the meter.
Handwoven Characteristics: Hand-dyed silk produces slubs, slight shifts in alignment, and natural irregularities. Velvet stiffness at first is due to weaving starch and softens with washing. All authentic ikat shows a white repeat line every 200–220 cm.
Care: Wash gently with shampoo at 30–40°C. Screen colours may vary; swatches available on request.
Shipping: Sent via Uzbekistan Registered Post within 2 days; delivery usually 5–16 business days worldwide.
